Opossums
Opossums are nocturnal and are often attracted to pet food, especially cat food. Be sure that no pet food is left out at night to attract foraging opossums. If an opossum has made its home in an undesirable area, use the following exclusion techniques to encourage the animal to leave:
- Place a light and a radio tuned to an all-talk station in the den area during the day.
- Place rags soaked with ammonia around the den entrance and spray predator urine (available online and at most feed stores) around the den area.
- When you are sure the animal has left, seal up all openings.
